The adventure ends…or does it?

This post is written in English for the benefit of all our Kiwi friends.

I have just finished checking in and passing through security at Auckland airport. All that remains before I get to see and hold my family again is about 30 hours on an airplane.
To sum up the last year in a short post isn’t easy. It has been a truly wonderful experience. We have learned so many things about ourselves and each other. The hospitality and love that we have experienced is unbelievable. We have done many things, but the lasting memory is of all the wonderful people we have met. Thank you all our wonderful Kiwi friends!

A few things that we have learned:
  • Time is the most valuable thing we have.
  • If someone invites you over and asks you to bring a plate, it is not because they are out of plates. You should put something on the plate for others to eat. Since almost everyone else will bring sweets or cake, it is a good idea to bring actual food. This is especially true for school events.
  • Jandals and shorts are always appropriate attire, regardless of season and occasion.
  • ”If you cut the beak of a Kiwi (bird), you get a Kiwi (fruit)” - Viggo Sillén, 5.

We still don’t know for certain where we will end up next, but we are absolutely sure that we want to return to Whakatane at some point in the not too distant future.

Until we meet again,

XOXOXOXO

This is not the family, I know. No other photos available on this computer...
